Right now
I turn a rough need into software a small team can run without me in the room.
Veteran, CS graduate, product engineer
I'm Steve Defendre, a military veteran, CS graduate, and founder of Defendre Solutions. I build for founders and small businesses that need someone who can take a messy request and ship a product they can use.
I do the product calls and the engineering. I scope the work, design the path, build the UI, wire the backend, and leave something you can maintain after launch.
How I build
I stay on the work from the first call through launch, including the parts that usually get handed off.
Phase 01
I begin with the job the software has to do, who uses it, and which decision it should make easier.
Phase 02
I still work the way I did in the service. Name the objective, cut the fog, ship something you can use, then improve it.
Phase 03
As the founder of Defendre Solutions, I stay with operations, maintenance, and whether the thing still fits the business next quarter.
What I work with
01
React and Next.js UIs where the next click is obvious.
02
TypeScript backends and APIs that match how the work runs.
03
Git, Docker, and AWS so a release still ships after the first launch.
04
PostgreSQL and Python when the data and jobs have to last.
